- We have started a listserv in order to make announcements or update you on events. This listserv will also allow you to network, make your own announcements, post questions, problems, etc. The listserv is called organicgrains and is run through NCSU. To join the listserv, just send me (molly_hamilton@ncsu.edu) an email requesting to join, and I will add you to the listserv and send you instructions on how to use it. This can be a very useful tool!
- We receive many requests each month from folks who want to buy small amounts of local, organic small grains and corn. If you are interested in selling 25 to 100 pounds of grain at a time, directly to consumers, please let me know and I will add you to a list that I will post on-line and which I can send out to these potential customers when we are contacted. - Tobacco Trust funds Organic Canola and Spelt Project. The Organic Grain Project of NC State University was awarded a $75,000 grant from the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission to demonstrate and research organic canola and spelt production. These two winter annual crops fit well in organic grain rotations and the market for them is growing. This project will provide farmers with research-based information to successfully grow and market organic canola and spelt.
