    • Organic roll-kill/no-till workshop scheduled for June 8 in Hyde and Washington Counties. We will be visiting farms to see roll-kill/no-till corn and soybeans, as well as organic soybean, corn, and canola variety trials. More information about the workshop will be available soon.
      • We will also have a similar program in Salisbury some time in July. Details coming soon.
    • The first annual Organic Commercial Farm Conference, organized by Carolina Farm Stewardship Association and NCSU, was a success. Over 70 attendees heard the keynote speaker at lunch, attended workshops, and talked afterward over appetizers. Klaas and Mary-Howell Martens give the keynote talk about production and marketing on their 1200 acre organic farm in New York. Workshops on vegetable seed sourcing, no-till organic corn and soybean production, organic grain storage, and forage management were held. The organic crop breeding project, NC Choices, and the NC Organic Bread Flour project were also discussed. This conference will be held again next year, and if you wish to participate in content planning or have any feedback, please contact Molly Hamilton at molly_hamilton@ncsu.edu or 828-273-1041. Also, Jennifer Lapidus of CFSA recorded the Martens talk, so if you would like to hear it, contact Molly Hamilton (info above).
